10 gear items I would 100% buy again..

As a wedding photographer, efficiency and mobility are key to capturing every special moment without missing a beat—and that's exactly why I love using the Think Tank belt system. It’s a game changer when it comes to keeping my gear accessible, organized, and secure while I move around the wedding venue. The system is designed for photographers on the go, with modular components that can be customized based on the specific needs of the day. I can easily carry multiple lenses, flashes, and other essentials right at my hips, which means I don't have to keep running back to my bag between shots.

What really sets the Think Tank belt apart is its comfort and stability. Even during long wedding days with lots of movement, it distributes the weight evenly across my body, reducing strain on my shoulders and back. The belt itself is adjustable and has a secure fit, so I can move quickly without worrying about it shifting or bouncing around. Plus, the quality and durability are top-notch—it's built to withstand the hustle and bustle of a wedding day without falling apart.

What I appreciate most, though, is how the Think Tank belt system helps me stay focused on what matters: capturing those fleeting moments with ease and precision. Whether I'm in the middle of the dance floor, running to the ceremony, or shooting candid portraits, my gear is always right where I need it, allowing me to stay in the flow of the day without skipping a beat.

9.5/10

As some of you will know I prefer off camera flash as much as I can. There does come a time when I am shooting events and weddings by myself, especially on the dance floor. For these occasions my absolute favorite piece of gear when shooting weddings and events, especially on , is the Rogue FlashBender. As a photographer, it's critical to have the right tools that give you flexibility and control—and the FlashBender does just that. What I love most about it is how it transforms my flash into a versatile light-shaping tool, helping me create beautiful, natural-looking light, even in challenging, low-light conditions.

When I’m shooting a wedding reception or dancing shots, I’m often by myself, moving quickly between groups, trying to capture the energy of the moment while managing my light. The Rogue FlashBender allows me to diffuse, bounce, or direct the light exactly where I need it, giving me full control over how the light falls on my subjects. Whether I’m bouncing light off the shaped flash bender to soften shadows or using the softbox attachment for a more controlled, even light, the FlashBender helps me achieve the perfect look with minimal effort.

Another great feature is its portability and ease of use. The FlashBender is lightweight and quick to adjust, which is essential when I'm constantly on the move during an event. Unlike bulky softboxes, the FlashBender fits easily into my gear bag and doesn’t slow me down when I need to pivot between different lighting setups. And, in a fast-paced setting like a wedding reception, especially on the dance floor where lighting can be unpredictable, it gives me the ability to react quickly and deliver quality images without compromising on the look and feel I’m after.

For me, the Rogue FlashBender is a total game changer. It helps me keep the atmosphere lively and dynamic while still giving my photos that soft, flattering light that makes the dance floor moments feel intimate and natural. It’s a piece of gear that truly helps elevate my work, and I can’t imagine shooting an event without it when I just can’t use off camera flash.

One piece of gear I absolutely never leave home without is my Lastolite TriGrip Reflector, specifically the Sunfire/Soft Silver 1.3m version. Whether I'm shooting a wedding or a lifestyle session, this reflector has become an essential tool for helping me control natural light and elevate my images, and I truly can't imagine shooting without it.

What makes the TriGrip so great is its versatility. The Sunfire/Soft Silver side gives me a beautiful, warm, flattering light that's perfect for outdoor shoots in the sun or when I'm working with natural light indoors. It softens harsh light without creating the overly cool or flat tones that can sometimes come with traditional reflectors. The Sunfire side creates a lovely golden glow, especially during golden hour or late afternoon shoots—perfect for creating that dreamy, warm ambiance I love. On the flip side, the Soft Silver provides a slightly cooler, more neutral bounce that works wonderfully for portraits, especially in shaded areas or under overcast skies.

Another reason I love the TriGrip is its portability and ease of use. The 1.3m size is large enough to make a noticeable difference in my lighting, but not so big that it becomes cumbersome to handle, even on my own. Its unique triangular shape and comfortable grip make it easy to hold and position, whether I’m working solo or have an assistant helping out. At weddings, when I’m often running around and adjusting my angles to capture the best light, the TriGrip is quick and intuitive to position and adjust. It’s lightweight and compact, so it fits easily into my gear bag, making it a go-to tool for on-the-fly lighting adjustments.

What I love most about the Lastolite TriGrip is how it helps me create a more controlled, polished look without needing complex lighting setups. Whether I’m softening direct sunlight for a couple’s portrait, adding a little extra sparkle to a bride’s dress, or bouncing some light onto a family during a lifestyle shoot, it helps me bring out the best in the available light while maintaining that natural, organic feel in the images. It’s an indispensable part of my kit, and it’s helped me create countless timeless photos that my clients adore.

9.5/10

One piece of gear that’s always in my bag for weddings and location shoots is the Lastolite Extending Handle. It’s an absolute game-changer when it comes to off-camera flash work, and I use it religiously, usually when I am shooting with an assistant. If you’ve ever tried to get that perfect off-camera flash shot, you know how tricky it can be to position your flash exactly where you want it—especially in fast-moving wedding environments or outdoor shoots where you’re constantly changing locations. That’s where the Lastolite Extending Handle comes in, and why I love it so much.

The key advantage of this handle is its flexibility. It extends to give you more reach and control over your flash, allowing you to position it at just the right angle, height, and distance from your subjects. This is particularly useful when I'm trying to create dynamic lighting for reception shots, couple portraits, or group photos. It lets me move the light away from the camera and into the perfect position to sculpt and shape the scene without having to worry about holding the flash myself.

Another reason I love using the Lastolite Extending Handle is how lightweight and easy to maneuver it is. Whether I’m working with my assistant or using it solo, it’s a breeze to adjust the height or angle of the flash, which is crucial when I'm working quickly during events like wedding receptions or outdoor ceremonies. And, because it’s so lightweight, I can move around with ease without feeling weighed down by bulky gear. It’s also incredibly sturdy, so I never have to worry about it losing its position or wobbling when it’s extended out.

When I’m shooting weddings, especially during those fast-paced moments on the dance floor or when I’m capturing more candid, creative shots outdoors, the Lastolite Extending Handle allows me to light the scene just the way I envision it. It’s such a simple tool, but it makes a massive difference in the quality of my work and gives me the control I need to create stunning, professional-looking images. It’s a small investment for a huge return in terms of flexibility and lighting control, and it’s something I always make sure to have in my kit.

9.5/10

One of my absolute favorite lights that I rely on for a wide variety of shoots is the Nanlite 300B. Whether I'm capturing headshots, photographing animals, shooting video, or even recording interviews and podcasts, the versatility and control this light offers make it an essential part of my kit.

First off, what I love most about the Nanlite 300B is its controllability. It's a bi-color LED light, meaning I can easily adjust the color temperature from a warm, inviting 2700K to a cool 6500K, giving me full creative control over the mood of my shots. This is especially useful when I'm doing headshots, where I want to create a flattering, natural light that brings out the subject's features without being too harsh. The soft, even light it provides is perfect for those tight portraits or more intimate settings.

The 300B is also fantastic when I’m photographing animals or working with clients who have an aversion to traditional flash. The soft, continuous light is much less intimidating than a sudden flash pop, allowing me to capture more natural, relaxed moments, especially with animals who may be skittish. It provides a more natural lighting environment, making it easier for me to connect with my subject without the need for flashes or complex lighting setups.

Another reason I love the Nanlite 300B is its performance in video work. The consistent and flicker-free light makes it perfect for interviews, podcasts, and any video production work I do. I can dial in the exact color temperature I need to match the ambient light or to create a specific look. Plus, the light is bright enough to ensure I can light the scene without needing to push ISO too high, which helps me maintain crisp, clean footage.

While the 300B is a mains-powered light (so you do need to be close to a plug socket), that’s never been an issue for me, especially when I'm working in a studio or location with available power. I simply plan my setups to be near an outlet, and the convenience of not worrying about battery life outweighs that small limitation.

Overall, the Nanlite 300B is a powerful, flexible light that works across a wide range of applications. Whether I’m working on a headshot session, an interview, or shooting video, it always delivers high-quality, controllable light that elevates my work. It’s a fixture I can count on for so many types of shoots, and I’m always excited to have it on set.

9.5/10

The Elinchrom ELB 1200 Battery Kit has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of gear, and I honestly don’t know how I managed without it before! As a wedding and location photographer, I’m always on the move, so having a reliable, powerful, and portable lighting solution is a must. The ELB 1200 ticks all those boxes and more, offering a perfect combination of power, portability, and compatibility with my favorite Elinchrom modifiers.

One of the biggest reasons I love the ELB 1200 is its sheer power in a compact package. This light is incredibly versatile, offering 1200Ws of output, which is more than enough for most of my wedding and location shoots, whether I’m lighting large groups or getting that stunning, high-impact portrait. The fact that I can power this beast of a light using a battery pack means I don’t have to worry about being tethered to a power source—perfect for outdoor weddings or when I’m shooting in venues without accessible outlets.

Speaking of the battery, the battery life on the ELB 1200 is fantastic. I can shoot for hours on a single charge, which is a huge benefit when I’m working on location, where charging opportunities can be limited. The long-lasting power lets me focus on the shoot rather than worrying about running out of juice halfway through a session. It's incredibly reliable, and I know that with the ELB 1200, I’ll always have the power I need when I’m shooting on the go.

Another huge selling point for me is the compatibility with Elinchrom’s wide range of modifiers. I’ve been using Elinchrom softboxes and beauty dishes for years, and the ELB 1200 works seamlessly with all of them. This means I can maintain the same beautiful, soft, and controlled light that I rely on, even when shooting outdoors or in unpredictable environments. Having this kind of flexibility in modifiers is essential for getting the look I want for my clients, whether it’s for an elegant bridal portrait or a candid reception shot.

I also have to mention how much lighter and more portable the ELB 1200 is compared to my previous Elinchrom Ranger pack. The Ranger was a workhorse, but it was heavy and cumbersome, especially when I had to carry it around all day at weddings or location shoots. The ELB 1200, on the other hand, is a lot more compact and much easier to handle. The lightweight design means I can move around effortlessly and work in tighter spaces without feeling weighed down by bulky equipment.

In short, the Elinchrom ELB 1200 Battery Kit has revolutionized the way I approach location shoots. It gives me the power I need, the flexibility to use my favorite modifiers, and the portability that allows me to move freely throughout the day. I couldn’t be more thankful to have it in my kit.

Alongside my Elinchrom ELB 1200, I also rely heavily on the Elinchrom ELB 400 (also known as the Quadra ( previous pack & now upgraded to the ELB 500 ) for weddings and when I need to travel light. While the ELB 1200 is my go-to for power and versatility, the ELB 400 is my perfect companion when I need something more compact and lightweight without sacrificing the quality of light.

The ELB 400 is incredibly portable, which makes it ideal for when I’m working in tight spaces or traveling to a destination wedding or shooting in the streets of London. It’s about half the size and weight of the ELB 1200, so it’s perfect for situations where I need to move fast, like during an indoor wedding or an on-the-go location shoot. I love how easy it is to throw in my bag, and the fact that it’s so light means I’m not weighed down when I’m hustling from one location to another.

Despite its smaller size, the ELB 400 still delivers impressive power and is fully compatible with the Elinchrom modifiers I love. It’s the perfect balance of power and portability, and I can get the same soft, beautiful light that I’m used to. The battery life is solid as well—while it doesn’t last as long as the ELB 1200, I can still easily shoot an entire wedding day on two batteries or a few hours on location without needing a recharge, making it a fantastic backup light or main unit for lighter work.

In essence, while I rely on the Elinchrom ELB 1200 for its raw power and versatility, the ELB 400 ( & Quadra) is my go-to when I need to keep things light and easy. Both lights complement each other perfectly and give me all the flexibility I need, whether I’m lighting up a grand wedding reception or shooting a quick portrait on the move. Together, they form the backbone of my lighting kit, allowing me to adapt to any situation with confidence.

I’ve been using the Tenba Axis V2 32L Backpack in MultiCam Black for a couple of months now, and it has quickly become one of my absolute favorite pieces of gear. Im a boy of a bag fan ! As a photographer who’s constantly on the move, whether I’m shooting weddings, lifestyle sessions, or traveling for destination shoots, having the right bag is crucial, and the Tenba Axis V2 has absolutely delivered in every way.

First off, I love the design and build quality. The MultiCam Black version is not only stylish but also rugged and durable, with weather-resistant material that keeps my gear protected, even when I'm caught in the elements. Whether I’m trekking through an outdoor shoot, navigating crowded wedding venues, or moving between different locations, the backpack holds up to the demands of both urban and off-the-beaten-path environments. The MultiCam pattern also has that tactical, modern look, which I really enjoy—it’s sleek without being flashy.

The organization of the bag is a huge win. The 32L size is perfect for me—it offers ample space for all my gear without being too bulky or cumbersome. I can easily fit a camera body x2 , multiple lenses, flash and even a light modifier folder down into the pocket with plenty of room left for personal items like my water bottle, keys, and phone. The customizable interior dividers make it easy to organize everything, and I can quickly access what I need without having to dig around. Plus, I love the top-loading access, which is super convenient when I need to grab something in a hurry without having to take the whole bag off.

Another feature I’ve come to appreciate is the comfort and support the bag offers. The padded shoulder straps and back panel are designed to evenly distribute the weight, which makes carrying heavy gear all day much more comfortable, even during long wedding days or when I’m out on location. The sternum strap and waist belt also help keep the pack stable and prevent it from shifting while I’m moving, so I can focus on the shoot without worrying about my gear bouncing around.

For me, the Tenba Axis V2 32L Backpack strikes the perfect balance between functionality and comfort. It’s become my go-to bag for both professional shoots and personal use because it holds everything I need securely and is easy to carry around all day. The high-quality materials, thoughtful design, and versatility make it a standout choice for photographers and creatives who are always on the go. After a couple of months of using it, I can confidently say that it’s a game-changer in how I organize and transport my gear—and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, stylish, and durable camera bag.

One of my absolute favorite pieces of gear that I always have with me when I’m traveling light is the Neewer ST210RA Aluminium Alloy Light Stand. It’s become my go-to stand for everything from commercial shoots to party photography, especially when I’m in London and only carrying one bag. This light stand strikes the perfect balance between being lightweight, compact, and incredibly durable, making it ideal for the fast-paced, on-the-go nature of my shoots.

First off, the portability is what really makes the Neewer ST210RA stand out. When I’m traveling in London or heading to a shoot where I want to keep my gear minimal, this stand is a lifesaver. It’s slim, lightweight, and collapses down to a compact size that fits easily into my bag. I don’t have to worry about lugging around bulky, heavy equipment, but I still have a solid, reliable stand for my off-camera flashes or lights. Whether I'm on a commercial shoot or at a lively party, it doesn’t take up much space and easily slips into my bag without adding any unnecessary weight.

Despite its lightweight design, the build quality is impressive. The aluminium alloy construction gives it a sturdy, professional feel without being too heavy. I’m always confident that it can support my gear—whether I’m using a speedlight or a larger off-camera flash—without wobbling or tipping over. It has a good height range as well, so I can adjust the stand to fit the specific lighting needs of the shoot, whether I’m positioning a light high up for dramatic portraits.

The stability of the Neewer ST210RA is another reason I love it. Even though it's lightweight, it holds my gear securely. I’ve taken it to commercial shoots where I need reliable support for product photography, as well as to party shoots where things are a bit more chaotic. It doesn’t flinch or become unsteady in a busy environment, which is essential when I’m trying to capture headshots or couple shots without worrying about my light setup. I wouldn’t put a super heavy light or modifier on it but it holds true with a Quadra and small soft box

Overall, the Neewer ST210RA Aluminium Alloy Light Stand is a perfect solution for anyone who needs a lightweight, portable, and durable light stand for commercial, event, or party photography. It’s the ideal choice when you need to travel light but still require solid support for your lighting gear. For me, it’s a must-have in my kit whenever I’m on the move in London or heading to a shoot where space and weight are a concern!

As a photographer, one thing I can never guarantee on a shoot is good coffee. Whether I’m on a tight schedule, having a quick break on a wedding day, traveling to a location shoot, or just stuck in traffic between gigs, getting a decent cup of coffee can be a real challenge. That’s why I absolutely love my Handpresso E-Presso—it’s my secret weapon for getting a perfect shot of espresso no matter where I am.

This little gadget is a lifesaver for those long, hectic days on the go. I’ve always got it in my bag or in my car, ready to make a quick, high-quality espresso whenever I need that caffeine boost. If I’m on a shoot and don’t have access to a café or a decent coffee spot nearby, the Handpresso saves the day. It’s compact, portable, and incredibly easy to use, meaning I can get a delicious shot of espresso in just a few minutes. Whether I’m in between shots or on a break, I can enjoy a great cup of coffee without wasting time looking for a coffee shop or settling for a lukewarm, disappointing brew.

Even on the days when I’m traveling light or don’t have time to make a whole coffee, a flask of java works just fine for keeping me going—but if I’m parked in my car and have a few extra minutes, the Handpresso E-Presso lets me make a real, rich espresso right on the spot.

Honestly, the Handpresso has become as much a part of my kit as my camera gear. It’s small enough to stash in the car or carry around on shoots, and it’s helped me stay sharp, focused, and energized throughout some pretty demanding days. So, if you're like me and can't trust your shoot location to have good coffee, the Handpresso E-Presso is an absolute must-have!

As a photographer, particularly when shooting outdoors with my Pentax 645Z, one of the essential tools I rely on to control lighting and achieve the look I want is my Lee ND filters. I absolutely love using these glass filters because they give me the creative freedom to shoot with wider apertures, even in bright outdoor conditions, while keeping my images sharp and properly exposed.

One of the main reasons I use ND filters is for flash control—especially when I’m working with my Pentax 645Z and using flash outdoors. With the 645Z, I’m limited by a sync speed of 1/125th, which means if I want to use a wider aperture for that beautiful, shallow depth of field, I can easily overexpose the shot in bright sunlight. To solve this, I use the Lee ND filters to reduce the amount of light entering the lens, allowing me to use flash without blowing out the highlights. This is crucial when I want to create balanced lighting, especially in portraits or when shooting details in bright outdoor environments.

The quality of Lee ND filters is something I truly appreciate. Unlike some other filters, Lee glass maintains exceptional clarity and color accuracy, which is essential for high-resolution cameras like the 645Z. I’ve never had issues with color shifts or loss of sharpness when using these filters, which means I can trust them to deliver consistent, high-quality results every time. The ability to use my wide-angle lens hood without interference is also a huge plus, as I can maintain the integrity of my shot while reducing unwanted light spill or lens flare.

Another thing I love about these filters is their smooth operation and ease of use. The glass is sturdy, and the filter’s design allows for easy adjustment without any hassle, even when I’m on the move during an outdoor shoot. They’re also incredibly durable and well-built, which is essential for me since I often shoot in varied conditions.

In short, the Lee ND filters have become a key part of my toolkit for controlling flash, shooting at wider apertures, and achieving that beautiful, natural lighting balance outdoors. Their high-quality glass, ease of use, and reliability make them a must-have for anyone looking to take full control of their exposure, especially when working with larger-format cameras like the Pentax 645Z.
